HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP FUND, HANOI UNIVERSITY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

The Faculty of Civil Engineering is one of the largest and earliest faculties established alongside the founding of the University of Civil Engineering. Generations of graduates from the Faculty of Civil Engineering have worked throughout the country in various socio-economic fields; many have become politicians, state management officials in various fields, and owners of large enterprises and economic groups.

The Alumni Association of the Faculty of Information Technology was established 18 years ago. On each anniversary of the school’s founding and at graduation reunions for each graduating class, the alumni always think of the faculty, the school, and the students currently studying there, reminiscing about their student days filled with hardships.

With the desire to help alleviate some of the difficulties faced by students studying at the Faculty of Information Technology, the Alumni Association met with the Faculty Dean to plan, mobilize, and establish a scholarship fund for students with outstanding academic achievements; this plan received strong support and agreement from the alumni.

On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the school’s founding (2011), the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Information Technology, together with the Faculty Board, headed by the Dean, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Huu Hai, launched a fundraising campaign to establish a scholarship fund for students of the faculty, named the Information Technology Scholarship Fund, with a total amount of 200 million VND.

And also, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the school’s founding (in 2016), the Alumni Association, together with the Faculty Board, raised an additional 220 million VND, bringing the total amount of the CTT Scholarship Fund to 420 million VND.

After several years of the Civil Engineering major recruiting students as part of the Civil Engineering group, this year the Civil Engineering major is recruiting independently. To mark this occasion, the Faculty Board has mobilized businesses in the industry to sponsor scholarships for the Faculty’s Scholarship Fund, totaling 80 million VND, to be awarded to Civil Engineering students studying at the University of Civil Engineering.

Most students at the University of Civil Engineering, and especially those in our Civil Engineering Faculty, come from poor rural areas across the country. They are excellent high school students; their preparation for entering the University of Civil Engineering is high school knowledge, diligence, hard work, and a thirst for learning. However, difficult economic conditions have often significantly affected their academic results, even ending the dream of becoming civil engineers for many students. The current students are the embodiment of those who came before; what those former students experienced during their difficult student years is now present in the current students.

Based on the above considerations, the CTT Scholarship Fund was established with the aim of awarding scholarships to students with excellent academic and training results; in addition, the Fund also reserves one special scholarship for the top-performing student in the CTT Faculty. The awarding of scholarships from the Scholarship Fund to students is done annually during the freshman orientation.

The CTT Scholarship Fund currently has a total of 500 million VND , deposited in a bank to earn annual interest for student scholarships; this principal amount will be preserved and supplemented by contributions from alumni, businesses, and philanthropists on each anniversary or whenever circumstances permit.

Specifically, the Fund will donate the following each year:

  • One scholarship (Type A) will be awarded to the student with the best academic and extracurricular achievements in the entire faculty.
  • One scholarship (Type B) will be awarded to the student with the best academic and extracurricular achievements in each class.
  • One scholarship (Type B) will be awarded to the top-scoring student in the entrance exam for each cohort.
  • In addition, depending on the situation each year, according to the Admission Announcement of each year, the Faculty Board will award scholarships to students who register to study the Computer Science major.

The value of each scholarship will be determined annually; the hardware component will be funded by the Fund’s bank interest, while the software component will be contributed by the teachers.

The Faculty has organized 10 scholarship awarding ceremonies from 2011 to 2024 (annually), with a total amount of nearly 332 million VND spent on organizing and awarding scholarships to students.

The above is the complete content, purpose, and significance of the CTT Scholarship Fund.

Thank you very much./.
