Throughout its development and integration, the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) has always identified domestic and international cooperation as one of its key strategic directions to improve the quality of training, scientific research, and technology transfer. From its early years, the Faculty proactively established sustainable cooperative relationships with numerous universities and organizations both domestically and internationally, forming a multi-dimensional network that closely links the university, research institutes, businesses, and management agencies.
Domestically, the Faculty has regularly collaborated with prestigious universities in training and research such as the Water Resources University, the University of Transport and Communications, the National Economics University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and the Vietnam Institute of Water Resources Science. Collaborative activities include co-supervision of theses, sharing of training programs, joint organization of scientific conferences, and implementation of research projects at the ministerial and national levels. Notably, many faculty members have participated in reviewing, evaluating, and approving research projects and practical projects commissioned by universities, institutes, and government agencies, thereby demonstrating high professional prestige in the fields of hydraulic engineering, logistics infrastructure, and port engineering.
Internationally, the Faculty has established cooperative relationships with many prestigious foreign universities and organizations such as the University of Tokyo (Japan), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), National University of Singapore (NUS), University of Stuttgart (Germany), Kyoto University (Japan), and Curtin University (Australia). Through these cooperation programs, faculty and students have the opportunity to exchange academic knowledge, attend international conferences, and participate in short-term training courses or postgraduate research scholarships in fields such as hydraulics and hydrology, port engineering, renewable energy, and green logistics. In addition, the Faculty also collaborates with international organizations such as JICA, JETRO, KOICA, and AUN-QA to update training methods according to regional accreditation standards and enhance the teaching and research capabilities of its faculty.
Beyond its academic activities, the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering collaborates closely with the Departments of Science and Technology in Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh provinces in implementing applied research projects serving the development of waterway transportation infrastructure, disaster prevention, and climate change adaptation. The Faculty’s research results have been applied in practice to assess the stability of dikes and embankments, port and waterway planning, and technical consulting for hydropower projects, reservoirs, and urban drainage systems.
Regarding cooperation with businesses, the Faculty has established sustainable relationships with many large corporations and companies in the industry such as Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), Tan Cang Saigon, Hateco Logistics, Gemadept, Phuong Anh Logistics, Vinaconex, and the Port and Waterway Consulting Company. These businesses regularly collaborate with the Faculty in organizing seminars, guiding student internships, sponsoring research projects, and participating in the review of graduation theses, contributing to connecting training with the actual needs of the labor market.
Currently, the Faculty has also established a network of collaborators consisting of leading experts, engineers, and managers working at research institutes, businesses, and state management agencies in the fields of hydraulic engineering, seaports, logistics, and transportation infrastructure. This network not only supports the Faculty in training and research but also helps connect students and lecturers with practical production, creating favorable conditions for knowledge transfer and the development of high-quality human resources to serve the sustainable development of Vietnam’s hydraulic engineering and logistics industry.
