🌟SECOND PRIZE IN THE “CREATIVE STARTUP IN THE FIELD OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY” COMPETITION WITH A GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE AIR CONDITIONING SOLUTION🌟

The research team (RH2O) consists of final-year students from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUE), including students: Nguyen Ngoc Nam Duong (66HKEC), Luu Gia Thanh (66HKC4), Dang Thai Son (66HKEC), and Vu Xuan Hoang Anh (66HKEC). Their project, “Geothermal Air Conditioning,” made it into the TOP 15 out of over 100 projects and won second prize in the final round of the “Creative Startup in the Field of Energy Efficiency” competition for students.
🍃This competition is part of the Energy Efficiency Innovation Startup Promotion Project (AIS4EE), chaired by the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (DIC) – Ministry of Industry and Trade, funded by the European Union and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in collaboration with Touchstone Partners, aiming to promote innovative solutions and attract investment, with the goal of improving energy efficiency. This is one of the solutions that will make a significant contribution to realizing Vietnam’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
🍃At the final round, the student team from Hanoi University of Civil Engineering presented their startup project and solution to the judging panel and domestic and international investors, receiving many positive reviews.
🍃Originating from the “HUCE-Intech 2024” competition at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, the “Geothermal Air Conditioning” project proposes using water as a refrigerant and utilizing the year-round stable temperature of the earth’s interior to regulate the temperature of buildings. This solution not only provides effective cooling but also reduces operating costs for construction projects.
🍃In Vietnam, research and application of shallow geothermal technology is still relatively new. This represents a promising direction for individual housing projects, urban areas, and especially rural housing developments. With rising electricity costs, this technology not only helps save energy but also opens up opportunities for sustainable development for low-income communities. The application of shallow geothermal energy will bring significant economic and environmental benefits, contributing to improved quality of life for residents and reducing the burden of electricity bills.
🍃The “Geothermal Air Conditioning” project is considered sustainable and effective. It offers a useful solution in the field of building cooling systems, contributing to environmental protection and minimizing impacts on ecosystems. Especially as fossil fuels become increasingly scarce, shallow geothermal energy is emerging as an optimal alternative to traditional air conditioning systems.
