SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITIES – SERVING PRODUCTION IN HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING LABORATORIES

Under the leadership of the scientific staff in the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, the Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory has successfully carried out many scientific and production projects of great scientific and practical significance, such as:

  • Research on hydraulic regimes and technological solutions for “dike sealing” to protect the dike system in Northern Vietnam against the destructive war waged by the American enemy during the period 1965-1968 (an urgent project specially assigned by the Central Flood and Storm Control Committee and the Ministry of Water Resources).
  •  The research project “Study of the overall hydraulic regime of the Hoa Binh Irrigation and Hydropower Project” was conducted by the Hydropoek Institute of the former Soviet Union in 1979-1980 for the purpose of evaluating the feasibility design (assigned by the Ministry of Rivers and Rivers of Vietnam).
  • Other topics include: NC hydraulic regime of the Rõng Nam Hà sluice gate (1972),
  • NC downstream hydraulic regime of the Nui Coc project (Thai Nguyen), Ke Go project (Ha Tinh), Thac Ba project (Yen Bai), Hoa Binh hydroelectric project, Nghi Quang project (Nghe Tinh).
  • Research on river channel regulation in sections of the Duong River, the Red River near Hanoi, the Luoc River in the Hai Hung area, etc.
  • This is the first time a gas model has been used in a study of the Red River’s river regulation from Me So to Yen Le.
  • In 2004, participated in the evaluation of the Hydraulic Engineering Study dossier for the Buontuasarh Hydropower Plant flood discharge structure (N=86MW).
  • In 2005, the Council assessed the feasibility study dossier for the hydraulic engineering of the flood discharge structure of the Son La Hydropower Plant (N=2400MW).
  • In 2006, participated in the evaluation of the hydraulic engineering study for the flood discharge structure of the Binh Dien Hydropower Plant (N=48MW).
  • In 2008, a hydraulic engineering study was conducted on the flood discharge structure of the Ngoi Phat hydropower plant (N=72MW), which includes two discharge structures: a deep discharge dam and a transverse spillway.
  • In 2008, a study was conducted on the hydraulic engineering of diversion structures under construction (diversion tunnels).
  • In 2010, a hydraulic engineering study was conducted on the Nam Cat Reservoir project in Bac Kan province.
  • In 2013, experiments were conducted as part of a ministerial-level project on ocean wave energy.
  • In 2016, a key school-level research project was conducted – Studying the structure and working principle of a two-dimensional wave-generating flume.
  • In 2017, a hydraulic engineering study was conducted on the water intake structure of the Nam Si Luong 3+4 hydropower plant.
  • In 2018, a study on the hydraulic design of the Nam Yen hydropower spillway was conducted.

Research and development

  • Rotary vane flow meter,
  • Air flow meter
  • Flow meter (Pitou tube)
  • General hydraulics testing equipment set…
  • Two-dimensional wave generator
